Zn phosphating

Brief technical description:

  • When the component is dipped into an aqueous Zn phosphate solution, a chemical reaction leads to the formation of a thin conversion layer on its surface. This layer consists of strongly adhesive Zn phosphates, the slightly porous structure of which facilitates the absorption of oils and varnishes, thus forming an ideal adhesion surface for subsequent coating processes.

Advantages:

  • Zn phosphating leads to good
  • temporary corrosion protection,
  • which can be further improved by oiling.
  • Phosphate coats have good gliding properties which minimise friction and wear.

Please note:

  • Usually only steel is used as a base material for Zn phosphating. Phosphating results in high electrical resistance.

  • Mechanical engineering industry (wear and corrosion protection)
