Chemical nickel
Brief technical description:
- The functional nickel/phosphor surface is chemically precipitated without an externally applied current. The precipitation process achieves coatings with dimensional stability on almost all metals and metal alloys. Internal coatings are also possible to a certain degree. The proportion of phosphor is decisive in determining the coating properties. Phosphor concentrations of approximately 10 % ensure good corrosion resistance. Wear resistance increases as the phosphor content decreases and this can be further optimised by means of a corresponding heat treatment (up to 1000 HV).
Advantages:
- A functional surface for corrosion and wear protection on the interior and exterior of components.
- The appearance of the coating depends on the pre-treatment method used on the base material: blasted surfaces remain matt, while polished surfaces remain glossy.
Please note:
- Without appropriate post-treatment, the surface will be very prone to fingerprint effects. We provide special know-how and many years of experience when it comes to the finishing of aluminium components.
Fields of application:
- Automotive
- Mechanical engineering
- Optics (internal components of lenses)
